Quoting Carroll: Saturday Practice

The day after Mark Sanchez suffered a dislocated kneecap the Trojans were back at work preparing for the 2008 season. Kevin Carden caught up with USC Head Coach Pete Carroll after practice to get the coaches thoughts on Mark Sanchez, Joe McKnight and much more.

Pete Carroll on the status of Mark Sanchez:

"He's already progressing, he feels better. He's just frustrated already but that's who he is and how he's going to be about it. On Monday, he starts his rehab. He's already doing some stuff but he will start moving and stuff on Monday."

Pete Carroll on Mitch Mustain and Aaron Corp:

"They are working hard. They are learning their stuff and they are both able to make plays everyday out here. There is obviously some times when they are struggling with the installation.

"The sense of urgency is obvious. They are studying every minute that they have and they are looking at the film and doing everything they can to get ready."

Pete Carroll on Joe McKnight:

"Joe looks great. If you can imagine he's twenty pounds heavier than last year and he looks faster than ever. He looked like he was lightning fast out here today on the swing he caught and turned up.

"He really knows what is going on and he is so comfortable with all the different things we are doing. We are doing a ton of things with him already. It's exciting to watch him."

Pete Carroll on Garrett Green playing quarterback:

"He's really an incredible kid. He loves to play the game and he is a great kid, and he looked good. He has a long background in knowing the offense and knowing the terminology and all of that stuff so he is very comfortable calling the huddle and commanding things. He's a good athlete so we are lucky to have him jump in there."

Pete Carroll on the secondary:

"I think we should be a really good secondary and we are going to count on them to play really aggressive and make stuff happen. I hope we will be able to turn the ball over with those guys."

Pete Carroll on Allen Braford:

"I think Allen hasn't taken anything but steps forward everyday since spring football started. He's really battling and he inspires guys because he plays so hard. He's a beautiful part of this team and I'm thrilled about him."
