Barrett is a Trojan

Tustin HS star Chris Barrett has announced that he will attend USC next season. Barrett has the ability to play either tight end or defensive end for the Trojans. Click below for an update:

Barrett has long been considered a lean to the Trojans along with Tustin HS teammate Sam Baker. He informed the Trojan coaches of his decision following a Wednesday night visit from Trojan coaches Pete Carroll and Kennedy Pola.

Barrett plans on playing both ways in college. " Coach Carroll said I could come in and play both ways" So at which position is he better?  "Right now, I don't know. Some people say Tight End, other people say D-End." Chris says that at TE, his strengths are "Speed, blocking ability, I'm able to catch the ball, and I can out jump smaller DB's." At DE, he prefers to rush the passer with his speed and power.  Defensively, his stats on year are: "11 sacks, 13 hurries and 76 tackles." Chris plans to "hit the weight room" once his season is over. His goal is to come into camp at 265 lbs. (He is 245 lbs. now.) He will officially trip to USC sometime in January. His team is still in CIF-SS playoffs and will face Los Altos this weekend.
