"It was a really interesting night tonight. The first half I thought was really dominated by Stanford. We hung with it but they did a really nice job of running the ball and making some plays. When we got in the locker room, it just wasn't going to do. It couldn't stay the same on either side of the ball. Our offensive line came out and blocked so much better and was so much more effective. We really started going after it and figured it out and I think just did a fantastic job. Defensively, the guys came through and just stopped them series after series after series and it wasn't like that early on. We did great, had a great second half. We've just got to get out of here get back home, back to the Coliseum, have a week off and get ourselves ready for the next ball game."
Pete Carroll on the atmosphere inside Stanford Stadium:
"It was a great crowd. On the road, this was a great crowd for us. It was cool to see the stadium all filled up like that. It's just a beautiful place to play football. Our crowd was dominant tonight for us. It wasn't any one section, they were all over the place."
Pete Carroll on the play of USC's special teams:
"They're a pretty good team and and have some pretty good stuff on special teams. We thought they were very solid and didn't show any real weaknesses at all. It's been so close so many times, so finally for CJ (Gable) to get going- it's a great reward for all their hard work."
Pete Carroll on Stanford's offense:
"We just gave away a lot of stuff tonight, but they did well too now. They had a good plan and they worked real hard in the first half, but as always our guys can rally and come back around."
Pete Carroll when asked if he was as tired as the players after the game:
"I'm not tired at all. I get tired about five hours from now. In the middle of the night, that's when I will finally collapse. I had a great time tonight. To see it turn like that, and to have so much fun playing football with everybody pounding away and playing physical was really fun."
