Quoting Carroll: UCLA Postgame

The USC Trojans went into the Rose Bowl and finished off the regular season with a convincing 28-7 victory over UCLA. SCPlaybook's Kevin Carden caught up with Pete Carroll after the game to get the coaches thoughts on the win and more.

Pete Carroll on Steve Sarkisian accepting the Washington job:

"We proudly send our guy off on this job. This is another remarkable climb for a young guy, to make it to the point where he becomes in position to be head coach at a Pac-10 school. Following a week after Lane (Kiffin) did his thing at Tennessee, which was an incredible opportunity. It makes me extremely proud to see our guys positioned with these opportunities. These guys are ready. We wish him the very best and I know he's going to do a good job."

Pete Carroll on the 2008 season:

"I thought that we had a terrific football season. I'm am extremely proud that our team has been able to win the conference, sitting up there by ourselves. I'm really proud of the consistency over the many years here. I think that is the thing that I am most proud of."

Pete Carroll on the play of Mark Sanchez:

"I thought Mark (Sanchez) played a terrific football game today. He got hit late three times in this game. What was remarkable was how he bounced back and continued to compete and battle. He showed he was not going to back down no matter what they were trying to do. It was great. This is the kind of stuff you like to see your quarterback do."

Pete Carroll on wearing USC's cardinal jerseys:

"I thought the uniforms looked great today. This is the way it's supposed to be. It looked great, and I'm glad that we started the tradition. Hopefully we can continue that."

Pete Carroll on playing at the Rose Bowl:

"We like playing here. Playing in the area is really fun because our fans still get to go, and we get to have a good celebration of the game afterwards because the families are around and all of that. You don't get that when you go on the road out of town, so it's unique in that fashion. We look forward to playing here."

Pete Carroll on the win against rival UCLA:

"Our guys played really hard and really tough today. The score was kind of kept under control by the nice job by their defense. I thought we had many chances to put more points on the board."

Pete Carroll on the play of the defense:

"Defense was the key today. We played great, we only gave up one play, and it was a great play design by them (UCLA). The defense played really well, and we loved how they played."
