Quoting Carroll: Rose Bowl Postgame

The USC Trojans dismantled another Big Ten foe in the Rose Bowl, 38-24. SCPlaybook's Kevin Carden caught up with Pete Carroll after the game to get the coaches thoughts on the victory and much more.

Pete Carroll on USC's 38-24 Rose Bowl victory:

"It was a great opportunity for us to have this big-time matchup against Penn State and get a win. I'm thrilled about it…These guys had a ball playing tonight. They played with great energy, effort, enthusiasm and love for this opportunity and they showed it."

Pete Carroll on the Pac-10 going undefeated this bowl season:

"Every team that played that was in a bowl game won. That's a pretty extraordinary stat when you are looking at schedules and try to compare stuff. It obviously shows that regard for the schedule wasn't proper. I don't know what it means, but it's a pretty cool fact."

Pete Carroll on the play of Mark Sanchez:

"He's had as big a night as ever. He played the same kind football that Carson (Palmer), (John David) Booty, and (Matt) Leinart played. There's no doubt that he's just as capable of being the best player in America, given a whole other year if he does.

Pete Carroll on USC's second quarter explosion:

"Honestly, all of the sudden, when we go, we go and we start firing on all cylinders. We kept getting the ball back and the guys kept taking advantage of it."

"There's nothing about his game that holds him back. He's a great player in all areas. It was great to see him come through tonight and let everybody see it one last time for the season."

Pete Carroll on whether USC could beat Florida and Oklahoma:

"In all due respect to those two great programs and the great season that they've had – and I don't take anything away, that's not my deal at this time – I don't think anybody can beat us. I think we can beat anybody we play."
