The Latest on Hasiak and Vehikite

Scout.com spoke with Kapolei (Hawai'i) Head Coach Darren Hernandez, and Hernandez brought us up to date on the latest with two of his top players - Simione Vehikite and Stan Hasiak. Both of them were thinking about taking visits this final recruiting weekend; will they travel?

"Simi is not going to go anywhere," Hernandez said of Vehikite, who is verbally committed to the USC Trojans. "He had the chance to take visits to UCLA or Ohio State this weekend, but he wants to be a Trojan. He's committed. That's it."

And Hasiak? "Well, Washington was here all day Monday and Cal was Tuesday and UCLA had an all-day visit here today (Thursday)," Hernandez said. "Washington is out of the picture. I think it is going to be a horse race between UCLA and California."

Hasiak was thinking of officially visiting USC this weekend, but he won't be traveling to Los Angeles. "He's solid between Cal and UCLA," Hernandez said of his 6-foot-5, 330-pound offensive tackle.

Expect Hasiak's phone to blow up even more as the Bruins and Bears fight tooth and nail for the big man's signature on a letter of intent. "He told me he's already getting upward of 50 calls a day," Hernandez said of Hasiak.
