Can Trojans Land Telfort?

The state of Florida has always been a hotbed for recruiting, and since arriving at USC, Pete Carroll has shown the ability to sway recruits from the Sunshine State to wear Cardinal and Gold. Could Frankie Telfort be next?

The state of Florida has always been a hotbed for recruiting, and since arriving at USC, Pete Carroll has shown the ability to sway recruits from the Sunshine State to wear Cardinal and Gold.

Carroll has lured players like Mike Williams, Keith Rivers and T.J. Bryant to the west coast, and Frankie Telfort from Gulliver Prep in Miami could be the next in line.

The three-star linebacker/safety is very high on the Trojans and explained that having Ken Norton Jr. as a possible position coach is a big draw for USC.

"The thing I like about USC is they have a great linebacker coach that sent all four of his linebackers to the NFL this past year," Telfort said. "Ken Norton is a very prestigious coach, and he's been everywhere that a young linebacker wants to be. I feel that he is one of the best in the whole game.

"The experience of him coaching me would be second to none. It would just be incredible."

Along with Norton, Telfort has also built a strong relationship with USC assistant coach Todd McNair.

McNair has handled his recruitment, and as Telfort described, the two have become very close.

"Man, he's like my big brother," Telfort said. "We play around and joke. He's a real cool guy and we vibe really well together."

McNair was in Florida for an in-home visit Wednesday night that was like catching up with a good friend.

"My family is getting so comfortable with him that we get to sit down and just talk about our views on life and stuff like that," Telfort said. "We don't always have to talk about football. We will touch on the subject, but it won't stay there for very long."

Telfort recently sat down with his family to compare his top two schools, USC and Florida.

"We looked at how comfortable I would there. I know that both schools are very prestigious," Telfort said. "We went over private school versus a bigger school and bigger campus. Both schools are great, so I don't think I can go wrong in either decision."

With less than a week until Signing Day, Telfort has made up his mind, but will wait until Feb.4th to announce his final decision.
