Scout Ranking: #24 Wide Receiver
In DeVon Flournoy the Trojans get a wide receiver that has the ability to go the distance every time he touches the ball. Flournoy is a real playmaker with great speed and plays with great passion.
As a senior, Flournoy had 45 receptions for 1,091 yards and nine touchdowns. He was also a dangerous kick returner in high school and will get the opportunity to contribute on special teams at USC as well.
According to Carroll: "Devon Flournoy is an extraordinary dynamic receiver. He's a big-play guy with great speed. Makes all kind of plays and is a terrific kick returner as well. We want him as a wide receiver in the Z spot and we're really pumped about him. He's a track guy and very fast. He's explosive on the field and on film. I really love the way he plays."
Reason for Choosing USC: "The aura and the way the coaches make you feel is great. They are there to win. They were talking about Pete Carroll and said that in his seven years up there he has six championships under his belt already. I swear when I was up there they said championship about fifty times and I just love the word."
Future Impact: Flournoy will need to work on his route running skills with offensive coordinator John Morton, but he has the speed and playmaking ability to develop into a weapon much like Ronald Johnson. With the depth at wide receiver, he may not see the field as a freshman but will be an important member of the receiving corps in the future.
