"One of my coaches texted me and told me to call the (USC) coaches," Jones said. "When I called them they were talking to me, and they let me talk to the tight end coach and a couple other coaches, and they were telling me that they want me at USC.
"It felt really good."
Jones has been high on the Trojans for some time and said USC is the school that currently stands out from the rest.
"Everybody is pretty much even besides USC," he said. "They are the frontrunners right now.
"They are a school that I really like. Their coaches, the success, the players that they produce and just what they do on the field."
The versatile athlete said he enjoys watching the Trojans on television, and has admired them from afar.
"Watching them on TV has made me want to be a part of them," he said.
As a junior Jones played mostly on the defensive side of the ball and recorded an impressive 20 sacks, but has since transferred to Palmetto High School and is looking to make a big impact on the offensive side of the ball.
The USC coaches have already seen enough potential with the ball in his hands that they offered Jones as a tight end, which is the position he prefers to play in college.
"They were just telling me that I could play a little bit of wide receiver and tight end."
Jones will attend the Florida State camp this summer and hopes to make it to camps at Florida and USC as well.
