"There was a lot playmaking today. A lot of stuff happened. There were some big plays on defense and there were big plays on offense. Guys making some nice tackles in the backfield, then some nice runs and some good catches. I thought the quarterbacks made some really good throws in some tough situations. I just liked the playmaking part of it."
Pete Carroll on the play of Curtis McNeal:
"I thought Moody (Curtis McNeal) really jumped out. With a couple of guys banged up today he took advantage of this opportunity and looked terrific. He ran the ball beautifully. He ran tough, made guys miss him and showed good speed on the edge. He did some really good stuff."
Pete Carroll on Matt Barkley's performance this spring:
"You can't deny the fact that Barkley hung in there really well today. He did a nice job. I'm really surprised that he is able to handle the stuff as well as he is handling it. He's eight practices old and he's hanging in there. You can see that he has the ability to make plays. That's a big positive for him. We haven't seen a freshman able to do this in all of the years…It's giving him a chance to compete for the job."
Pete Carroll on development of the defensive line:
"I thought the defensive front seven was really aggressive. I thought we were in the backfield a lot. We were making plays in the backfield and getting penetration. The pursuit on the edge was really good in general. That was real encouraging. I think most people would have thought that we would be behind there a little bit at this time, which I don't think is even close to being the case. I think we are right on schedule and things look great."
Pete Carroll on punter Billy O'Malley:
"I thought he did a nice job. He had a lot of elevation and captured some good hang time. I thought he came through for his first big test. I think that was very well done on his part. That was the best day that he has had all spring."
