Scout Ranking: #38 Cornerback
Torin Harris is the only pure cornerback that the Trojans received a commitment from in the 2009 class. He is a very smooth athlete with great speed and footwork. At 6-foot-1, Harris has good size and fits the mold of the tall cornerbacks that Pete Carroll likes to use in his defensive scheme.
The talented cornerback flew under the radar a bit during the recruiting process, but caught the eye of the USC coaching staff with an impressive performance at USC's Skills Camp.
In his senior season at Palo Verde High School, Harris recorded 63 tackles and 5 interceptions.
According to Carroll: "He's in the mold of Kevin Thomas and Terrell Thomas. Tall, long, real fast. Ran a 10.6 as a junior last year. Lot of big plays on the defensive side. He's a really, really gifted athlete. He's one of those guys who can do a lot of stuff. We're going to feature him at a corner. He looks perfect."
Reason for Choosing USC: "I grew up watching USC. My dad was a big Trojan fan. I'm from Pasadena, CA, so I was always around USC football, I always liked it."
Future Impact: Harris probably won't see much playing time in his freshman season but has all the tools to develop into a solid contributor at cornerback.
