Scout.com's No. 1 Receiver Visits USC

Scout.com's No.1 ranked wide receiver Kyle Prater (6-5, 205) from Proviso West High in Hillside, Ill., unofficially visited USC yesterday and today with his father, and coach. He was scheduled to take his official visit to USC when the Trojans face San Jose State on Sept. 5, but those plans have changed and he will officially visit USC at a later date.

We asked Prater if the visit to USC went well and solidified USC as his No. 1 school?

"It went real well, man, I had a lot of fun," said Prater. "I got to talk to Coach (Pete) Carroll a lot, I talked to Coach (Jeremy) Bates, Coach (John) Morton and all of the coaches. We talked football, talked about the offense and I had a chance to talk with everybody. I'm going to go back home, talk with my family and my coaches and make a decision. I am going to announce my decision on Sept. 2."

Prater spent considerable time with all of the coaches while on his two-day visit and a few things stood out to him the past two days.

"The energy and intensity of the practices, everybody is real and I loved the environment" said Prater when asked what he liked about what he saw on his visit to USC.

"I have been watching USC for a long time and the players that they put out. They produce every year, so it's a really good school and I have to strongly consider them as my choice. I like the big receivers they put out and the way they produce, and get them NFL-ready. That's another key thing."

If Prater chooses USC, he will have an extremely talented quarterback tossing him the football. He spent some time talking with Aaron Corp and Matt Barkley, and said he was impressed with both.

"I had a chance to spend a lot of time talking with Aaron Corp and Matt Barkley and they are both real cool, everybody was real cool" Prater said. "They (Corp and Barkley) are real good, though."

Prater was scheduled to officially visit USC on Sept. 5, but those plans have changed and he will take his official visit to USC at a later date.

We'll have more from Prater next week after Proviso West has had a week of fall practices. Their fall camp begins tomorrow.
