Played in first game since transferring

Brian Hawthorne from Narbonne High transferred from Carson and played in his first game since the transfer last Saturday against Mira Costa. Because of his limited play, college coaches are waiting to see Hawthorne play this season before offering him a scholarship.

Hawthorne is an extremely talented wide receiver, but he also plays safety for Narbonne.

"I just want to be ready to compete," said Hawthorne when asked which position he prefers. "More schools are looking at me as an athlete. But I just want to play football.
