We asked Cox why Hicks has intertest in a school so far from home?
"He talks with Kenny Norton about every week and No. 1, I think the tradition struck him," said Cox about Hicks' interest in the Trojans. "There's such a great football tradition there and Jordan wants to be involved at a school with a great football tradition. That's not the only thing he's looking for, but I think it's important to him to go into a program that has had a great tradition of winning, a great tradition of putting kids in the NFL and then there aree other intangibles.
"To mom, she's looking at the program and wants to know how they can ensure these young men grow into young adults. As she said, 'Finish the job Coach Cox started.' She's also very high on the services these schools provide and how much time they donate."
The value of the degree Hicks will receive is will also be a factor in his decision and is an extremely important aspect of the school he chooses for his mother.
"Absolutely," said Cox when asked if the value of a degree will play a role in where Hicks ends up going to school. "Jordan is a 3.5 student and got a 26 on the ACT, but he's retaking it because he said it wasn't good enough for him."
Cox said Hicks will more than likely graduate from high school in December and enroll at the school he chooses in January. So, look for him to take the remainder of his official visits during the football season. If not, in early December.
