Josh Shirley will take second official visit

Josh Shirley (6-3, 220) from Kaiser High in Fontana is one of the most talented linebackers on the West Coast. He has offers from numerous elite schools, including local schools USC and UCLA. Two teams that struggled last weekend and each team were defeated by a team from Oregon. UCLA lost to the Beavers 26-19 and USC was blown out by Oregon 47-20.

We asked Shirley if he was shocked the Trojans were defeated by such a large margin?

"I wouldn't say I was shocked, because somebody has to win," said Shirley. "There's always going to be a winner and a loser. One mistake, one play in a game can make the turn out different."

Does a loss like this affect how he views the USC football program?

"No, not at all," Shirley said.

UCLA has lost five straight and have a record of 3-5. But the Bruins fought hard against Oregon State. Shirley believes the Bruins will start winning games when they begin to start off games stronger.

"Coming out and starting the game with intensity," said Shirley when asked what UCLA needs to do to turn their season around. "They finished the last game coming back strong, but the first half was a killer."

Shirley doesn't have many plans outside of focusing on the remainder of the football season, but he will take his second official visit this weekend.

" I just want to finish the season off strong, evaluate colleges more, take all of my official visits and then make a decision," said Shirley about his plans between now and signing day. "I'm not really focused on recruiting right now, but I am taking an official visit to Arizona this weekend,

Kaiser has won its last three games and a strong finish to the season will put them in a good position to begin the playoffs.

"We play Bloomington on Friday and Jurupa Valley the following week," said Shirley. "And they should be good games. We've been undefeated in league going on eight years now, but we never know what's going to be coming at us. We still need to practice hard, focus and not rely on the past. If we‘re blessed to make it down the road in the playoffs, the team to beat will probably be Citrus Hill." will have a report on Josh Shirley's official visit to Arizona. Top Stories
