Telfer Ready for Big Weekend

The Trojans are scheduled to have several highly rated recruits on campus this weekend for official visits and Telfer will be among them, trying to get the uncommitted players to join him at USC. "After I talk with them and let them know what they have at hand, you have to come to USC for lifelong connections and a great program," he said. "I am really excited to see if I can sway them.

After some stressful days and long nights, USC commit Randall Telfer was excited to learn Friday that Lane Kiffin, and a staff filled with veteran assistants, would be replacing Pete Carroll at USC.

"I know that I am going to be set," Telfer said when asked about the new hiring. "I committed to USC because I wanted to win, and with the coaching staff that we have now, I know for a fact that we definitely have a shot."

Telfer originally saw the Kiffin report posted on a blog, but with all the disinformation and names that were being thrown around, he decided to take a wait-and-see approach.

"Earlier today I was thinking that (Jack) Del Rio was going to be the coach and then I heard that he was not, so I just figured I would wait this one out and see what happens," he explained. "Then once I got to my training facility, I looked on the television and saw that Lane Kiffin had been announced as the head coach.

"At that moment it was really exciting and the whole place was cheering. I can't wait to get after it with them."

The hiring of Kiffin energized the four-star tight end, whose enthusiasm was evident when we spoke with him.

"I'm stoked man," Telfer said. "I am going to be the first one at Heritage Hall to meet the new coaches."

Telfer had already been in contact with fellow tight end commit Xavier Grimble, who was also thrilled about the news.

"I talked to Xavier Grimble and he's just as excited as I am," Telfer said. "At first, we were both kind of iffy about our commitments when we found out about Carroll, because that is the one coach that we have come to know and love, but now that we know that we have these great coaches coming in our commitments are as solid as ever. We are ready to get after it."

"I think Lache Seastrunk will be there. I hear that he is a good guy. I am pretty sure that USC should be his choice. We'll see."
