Anthony Brown: Ready to Compete

With several members of the 2010 recruiting class on campus this weekend for the first recruiting weekend of the Kiffin era, three-star athlete Anthony Brown stopped by USC on Friday to meet the Trojans' new coaching staff.

"It was a real honor to meet them because my dad told me their background and how they went all the way back with Pete Carroll," Brown said. "They were fired up to meet me and I was fired up too so everything went well."

With Robert Woods, Jesse Scroggins, Randall Telfer and others taking official visits, Brown said it was like being at a family reunion.

"It was pretty cool because almost the entire class that has committed was there. It was like a reunion and everybody was talking with each other," Brown said. "We all know each other from camps and stuff like that so we are very familiar with each other.

"We were all talking about what we are going to do when we get there. How we are going to make big plays and keep the program how it has been and keep the tradition going."

Brown said the USC coaches made a good first impression with the USC commits and one coach in particular made the loudest impression.

(Orgeron) was the loudest coach in there," Brown said. "He is really fired up because all the big recruits were there this weekend. Everything was really good.

"I sat down and talked to them and they were real fired up. They saw my highlight tape and said I was electric with the ball so that's a good thing."

The 5-11, 180-pound standout from Kaiser High School earned his scholarship with an impressive showing at the Rising Stars Camp and could get a look on either side of the ball at USC.

"It doesn't even matter what position I play when I get there, I just want to get in and make a few plays," he said.

Brown was hoping to already be enrolled at USC and taking classes as a college student at this time but he has had to put his plans on hold while he waits for the NCAA Clearinghouse to review his SAT scores.

"I am still waiting on my SAT's," he said. "I am just waiting right now. The last day to enroll is the 29th so I am just praying right now that they will be disclosed by then."

Even with the departure of Pete Carroll, Brown never really wavered in his commitment to USC, and after Friday's visit he said he is even more solid than before.

"I am 100 percent USC. They compete every down and that's what I like to do," he said. "I had to compete to get my scholarship so I am ready for it."

USC commit Anthony Brown goes up high to make the catch.
