USC plans on using Grimble like Fred Davis

Xavier Grimble was set to give his verbal commitment to Oklahoma while he was on taking a visit to Norman, Okla. But he was advised to take an unofficial visit to USC before he made a decision on a school. He took that advice, visited USC and decided USC was without a doubt where he wanted to be. But a lot changed when Pete Carroll resigned and Lane Kiffin was hired as USC's next head coach.

Xavier Grimble was set to give his verbal commitment to Oklahoma while he was on his official visit to Norman, Okla. But he was advised to take an unofficial visit to USC before he decided on a school. He took that advice, visited USC and decided USC was without a doubt where he wanted to be. But a lot changed when Pete Carroll resigned.

On Saturday and Sunday Grimble had an opportunity to meet with two of the new coaches and Brennan Carroll.

"I met with Lane Kiffin, Monte Kiffin and I spoke to my position coach, Brennan Carroll," said Grimble. "Coach (Lane) Kiffin has been there before, he knows what the program is all about and I don't think he's going to change very much, other than going back to the offense they had 2001 to 2006. I think we're going to be dominating and I'm very excited to get there."

Like Randall Telfer, Grimble said he was told USC still plans on using Grimble the same way Pete Carroll planned on using him.

"We're going to go back to using the tight end like we did during the Fred Davis years," said Grimble. "And I'm really looking forward to that."

Grimble headed to USC on Saturday with his father with a few specific questions they wanted answered by the new staff members.

"I wanted to know about the potential sanctions and I wanted to know if the offense was going to be like it was with Coach (Pete) Carroll," Grimble said. "The offense is going to be a little bit different, but there won't be too much change.

"We also wanted to get as much information about the coaches that we could. I'm pretty comfortable with USC right now."

We'll keep you updated on Xavier Grimble from now until signing day.
