Baxter Sticks with USC

Will he stay or will he go? That was the question that all USC fans wanted to know this past week. Well the wait and uneasiness ended Tuesday night when Dillon Baxter reaffirmed his commitment to the Trojans live on KUSI News in San Diego.

With the vast majority of USC's 2010 class already solidifying their commitments after a successful recruiting weekend, Dillon Baxter was one of the Trojans' last uncertain recruits.

Will he stay or will he go? That was the question that all USC fans wanted to know this past week.

Well the wait and uneasiness ended Tuesday night when Baxter reaffirmed his commitment live on KUSI News in San Diego.

"It's kind of exciting to finally have my decision and I'm fired up," Baxter said as he put on a USC hat. "After all the evaluations and talking with my family I decided to go to the University of Southern California."

The elusive athlete that could contribute at either tailback or wide receiver on the college level originally committed to USC way back in June of 2008 but decided to look at other schools after Pete Carroll left USC to become the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks.

"Coach Carroll leaving is his choice and I can understand that it was a big deal and an offer that he couldn't pass up," Baxter said.

After speaking with Coach Kiffin, Baxter was put at ease and decided to stick with his decision to spend his college days on the USC campus in Los Angeles.

"Coach Lane Kiffin coming in and talking to me, I talked to him yesterday and he said all of the right things," he said.

Baxter plans to be an early enrollee and participate in spring practice, like his future teammate Kyle Prater, who enrolled on Tuesday.

"I just graduated on Friday so I plan on enrolling to USC next week," Baxter explained. "It's all looking good right now and hopefully everything works out and goes smooth.

"I am really excited and I do plan on playing as a freshman. I am going to get up and play spring ball up there and work out with the team. Hopefully everything works out."

Dillon Baxter, Kyle Prater, D.J. Morgan and Robert Woods provide a lot of firepower for USC.
