Ambles visits USC

USC was a school early on in the recruiting process Markeith Ambles had high interest in, but the Trojans stopped recruiting him. That is until Pete Carroll resigned and Lane Kiffin was named Carroll's successor.

Ambles, an Army All-American-Wide receiver, was committed to Tennessee until Kiffin took the job at USC. In fact, we contacted Ambles' father, Keith Ambles, the day after USC hired Kiffin and asked him if USC was a school Markeith could end up signing with? And if he had decommitted from Tennessee?

His reply was, "There's a good chance that's going to happen. He's going to take a look at a few schools, but he really likes USC and Coach Kiffin. He's no longer committed to Tennessee."

So, it was no surprise when Ambles decided to take an official visit this weekend and spend more time in Los Angeles, and at USC.

"Markeith had a very good visit," said Keith Ambles. "USC is a school Markeith really liked early on, but USC stopped calling him for some reason. But that really doesn't matter now, he has an opportunity to go there if he chooses."

Ambles visited North Carolina last weekend, USC this weekend and will take one more visit next weekend. Two top schools that reentered the race for Ambles late in the process, are Florida and LSU. Mr. Ambles wasn't sure if Markeith would take a visit to either school.

We didn't have a chance to talk to Markeith Ambles tonight, but we hope to talk in the near future.

"He's not even home yet," said Mr. Ambles. "He's stuck at the Nashville airport because of bad weather. I don't know if he'll make it to Atlanta tonight, because we're having Tornados and thunder showers here."

As far as making a decision on a school is concerned, Keith Ambles told us a decision could come soon after he returns home from his official visit next weekend.

"I don't know if Markeith is going to wait until signing day to make a decision or not," he said. "He could decide right after he gets back from his next trip."
