Josh Heupel to be named OC at USU

Utah State and Matt Wells made a home run hire with Josh Heupel. Heupel has been the QB coach and Co OC at Oklahoma.

First tweeted out by Jack McEvoy. Utah State will name Josh Heupel Offensive Coordinator.

Heupel will join Utah State after coaching Quarterbacks and serving as Co OC at Oklahoma. Josh Heupel is a former All-American, a Heisman trophy runner-up, a former NFL QB, and has had a successful collegiate coaching career. After 9 seasons at Oklahoma he was let go following this season. Heupel's abilities as a coordinator and a coach weren't in question just one season ago when Oklahoma QB Trevor Knight absolutely shredded Alabama in the 2014 Sugar Bowl to the tune of dropping 45 points on the Crimson Tide.

Heupel's offenses put up an average of 36.7 points per game (36.4 in 2014), 202.4 rushing yards per game (261.2 in 2014), 272.1 passing yards per game (203.5 in 2014), 474.5 yards of total offense per game (464.7 in 2014) over the past four seasons. Heupel was QB coach for 5 years and then Co-OC for 4 years.

Heupel will join a talented Utah State Offense that will be deep at Quaterback. He will have a talented group of Quarterbacks to develop and improve.

These things take time to officially be announced but hopefully this will help recruiting in the next couple years.
