Niumatalolo visits the West

Niumatalolo is hoping his stock continues to rise. He is visiting USU, Boise, Utah and BYU. He recently visited Boston College.

Ali'i Niumatalolo is the son of Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo. Ali'i is trying to make a name for himself and is still waiting to see the offers start coming in. Recently he and his Mom flew to Utah from Maryland and visited Boise State as well as Utah State. Later he visited University of Utah as well and Brigham Young University. When he was here he told me had recently visited Boston College.

The purpose of all these "Unofficial Visits" is to get an idea of where he wants to play college football and attend for school. But unfortunately he has to wait for the coaches to pull the trigger and offer him a scholarship. He may get offered by all those schools or none. Anything is possible.

My opinion is that he is a good fit for someone looking for a very sound, tough, smart middle linebacker. It sounds like from some of his tweets in the past that some coaches want to see his speed improve maybe lateral quickness as well. We have seen in the Mountain west conference a guy like Zach Vigil play very well with some of those same concerns. Vigil had to walk on at Utah State but quickly proved he had what it took. Also what some may not take into account is he is close to playing weight where some MLB's in high school at playing at 200ish pounds and may look faster on tape.

So it will be interesting to watch. These teams out west don't normally recruit the Annapolis Maryland area, but with All Poly camp and some of his visits here he is on the radar with these teams now. Ali'i is a guy that will serve a mission and most schools he has talked to have been fine with that.

Staying with the same last name Moses Niumatalolo from Timpview recently had an unofficial visit as well. Moses is very early in his recruitment and even high school playing career but he will compete for playing time this year at Timpview at QB. So keep an eye on him. One of the few 2018 recruits I would recommend keeping an eye on at this point.
