Do Those years sound familiar?
The Aggies had close calls against the likes of Wisconsin, USC, Auburn and Utah in recent years. They have played well in almost all of their out of conference or so called money games. They have big road wins since then and bowl wins. They have built a top tier MWC and non P5 program no doubt.
So the opportunity for a win like this against Washington (even if they end the year like KSU at 5 or 6 wins) is great. This is a very winnable game and may be the best opportunity of the aforementioned games.
So what will it take?
Win the Turnover Battle.
The Aggies have had opportunities for picks and takeaways but have not capitalized on those. They have also had turnovers in the red zone that is even more damaging. The timing and the shear number of turnovers has not been ideal.
Pressure the Quarterback
Even with a freshman Quarterback and some young wide receivers the Huskies have shown a willingness to throw the ball and be aggressive. They must make Browning, a true freshman, uncomfortable. The Offensive line is relatively inexperienced as well so everything about this game screams pressure the QB.
Contain the Speed
Washington though young and maybe rebuilding has talent. There are some guys on the Washington's roster that the Utah State staff recruited and would love to have in Logan. Steve Sarkisian recruited pretty well and Coach Peterson is putting his stamp on the program obviously with a lot of young players at key positions. We saw against Tennessee that you have to play well against a p5 team to win. There has to be some big plays on Offense, Defense or Special Teams to swing momentum and keep the raucous crown out of the game. Getting Mosley, Sharp and Hayes back for this game after suspension helps increase the Aggies talent and depth. There is also a possibility that Brandon Swindall plays as well. That could play a factor in this game as well.
Some Aggie fans are very confident about this game and some fans and outsiders are taking the we'll see mentality. I know I will not be counting on a win until there are 0:00 on the clock after the 4th quarter...
