Utah State lands commitment from Makiah Gilmer, Aggies get Defensive Back from Washington

Makiah Gilbert a defensive Back from Juanita HS in Washington had his official visit and committed this weekend.

Makiah Gilbert was in Logan this weekend to see the Aggies get their first win of the season in Mountain West play. The Aggies also got a win in recruiting when Makiah let the coaches know he wants to sign with Utah State and continue his playing career and education at Utah State.

"It was a no brainer for me, I've envisioned myself there for awhile now, I just had to do the official visit to confirm it. And especially after I was able to be around all the coaches more I knew that they were people I want/need to be around"

Homecoming weekend was a great time for Makiah and the football team. Dallin Leavitt must have been host for the fellow Northwest elite Defensive Back/ Safety, he tweeted out:

S/O to my boy @makiahraymond on the commitment! Glad I got to know you this weekend! #AggieNation stand up! This is a big one! #NWBoys

Makiah is a rangy versatile safety that is agressive and physical enough to play either Safety spots in the future it looks like. He also has 6 catches for Juanita playing WR. On the year Gilmer has recorded two interceptions and if you watch his highlight tape on HUDL you will see some big hits.

Makiah Gilmer had offers from UNLV, Portland St, Montana St and Idaho. Rated a 3* recruit and the 4th best prospect in Washington by Scout.

So the Safety from the State of Washington felt at home and decided to pull the trigger.

"The atmosphere and Nature sells itself! Excited to be up there in the mountains focused on nothin but what's important!"
