After a nice break for finals week, Utah State basketball looks to finish strong in out-of-conference play. The Aggies snagged a win Monday night against University of New Orleans before heading into their last non-conference game Wednesday night against the Wildcats of Weber State.
The Aggies looked a bit rusty at times, Monday being their first game in nine days, but shook the cobwebs enough to beat New Orleans 76-66.
Jalen Moore got going early with 8 of Utah State’s first 11 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Moore, however, wouldn’t score again until three minutes into the second half. The Senior finished with 18 points, placing him ahead of current assistant coach Spencer Nelson on the Aggie basketball all-time scoring list. True Freshman Koby McEwen led the team in points and rebounds with 19 and 7 respectively.
After facing the athleticism of New Orleans, the Aggies will need a complete game to avoid a loss against rival Weber State. The Wildcats handed Utah Valley a 93-85 loss Saturday night, utilizing the 3-point line to their advantage. Weber State is led by Jeremy Senglin who averages 18.7 points per game and makes four 3-pointers per game as well. The Wildcats as a team average nearly 40% from behind the arc.
