Week 7 MWC Power Rankings

The battle for third place in the conference looks clearer while the top 2 win big again...

1. Utah (6-0) (3-0)
Not the most impressive victory over Laramie, but the defense was outstanding again while the offense was steady. Jordan Wynn really needs to cut down on the interceptions. TCU will turn 3 interceptions in 17 points. One more cupcake with week with Colorado State before the schedule gets interesting.
2. TCU (7-0) (3-0)
Just missed out on a third straight shutout against BYU. Andy Dalton looked like the best quarterback in the conference again this week. The Air Force game doesn't look as daunting as it did a few weeks ago.
3. San Diego State (4-2) (1-1)
The Aztecs are a botched call at BYU and a last second missed tackle against Missouri from being undefeated and ranked in the top 20 in the country. Brady Hoke is looking like a miracle working. Assuming Ryan Lindley comes back, San Diego State is going to challenge TCU and Boise State for conference supremacy in 2011.
4. Air Force (5-2) (3-1)
Lost a heartbreaker to San Diego State and now get to Travel to Forth Worth to take on TCU. With Utah still to come after that, looking at the standard Falcon 8-4 season…again.
5. BYU (2-5) (1-2)
A long season in Provo just got longer. The offense is one of the worst in the country and Jake Heaps is struggling. The good news is the Cougars will be favored in the next four games.
6. Wyoming (2-5) (0-3)
The Cowboys showed flashes against the Utes that make me think they'll be able to play with BYU this weekend. They'll be favored in their last three games and are going to need a win either this week or next week against San Diego State to become bowl eligible (assuming they win those three). The athletic director should be fired for scheduling the non-conference games that he did.
7. Colorado State (2-5) (1-2)
The Rams scored 19 points the first three weeks of the season. They put 43 on UNLV as Pete Thomas threw for 233 yards on only 14 passes. In stopping a 10 game conference losing streak. Maybe Steve Fairchild will survive the season after all.
8. UNLV (1-6) (1-2)
Yikes. A 33 point loss to Colorado State isn't acceptable for a 1-AA team. The defense was downright awful and Bobby Hauck may be regretting the move to Vegas…until he cashes his paycheck.
9. New Mexico (0-6) (0-2)
Luckily for the Lobos and Lobo fans they had a bye last week. It will be the only week all season where they don't lose.
