Lee Hearing From Big Name Programs

Alta (Utah) safety Austin Lee is going to be one of the more sought after players in Utah for the 2012 class....

Now that the 2011 class has been signed and sealed, the Ute coaching staff is looking to 2012 to fill impending needs. One of the players that is getting a lot of attention from the coaches is local safety Austin Lee.

When asked how his recruitment is going, his response is different today than it might be by the end of the process.

"Its been fun. I've been very busy right now with my recruitment. I've also been doing a lot of training."

While getting a lot of interest from the local schools, Lee is also looking outside of the state for possibly suitors.

"I'm mostly talking to the instate schools, Utah, BYU, and Utah State. I've been calling them a lot lately, but I've also been talking to Stanford and Colorado and like them."

Despite many schools knocking on his door, Lee only has one offer.

"I have an offer from Utah State, and am going to be visiting them soon."

Asked to narrow down his favorites, Lee likes what the local schools are offering.

"I like a lot of the in-state schools, mainly Utah, BYU and Utah State. I also really like Stanford. Those are all at the top of the list right now."

With two current Alta High grads on the 2011 roster, Lee knows what he's getting with the Utes.

"If I got an offer from Utah, I'd seriously consider it. I like the weight room and the coaches. The coaches are very friendly and I fit in there really well. The Pac 12 definitely helps."

Another factor weighing on the local safety is that of an possible LDS mission.

"I'm thinking about a mission, but I have to see and think about it more. If I started, I'd play a year and then think about the mission. If I didn't start I'd probably redshirt and then take the mission."

With only the one offer to his credit, he's in no rush to make a decision.

"Once I get a few offers I'll start visiting the schools more and attending more camps. Then I'll start taking it more seriously and might commit in the middle of my season."

Lee reports his current height and weight at 6 feet and 185 pounds.
