Allen, Texas quarterback Alec Morris has prototypical size at 6 foot 4 and 235 pounds, along with tremendous arm strength, but still lacks an offer. That should change shortly as interest in the big quarterback has increased. That interest has has come from big time schools from across the country.
"I've been talking to Arkansas, Michigan State, Texas Tech, Utah, Kansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma State, and a few smaller schools."
Despite the interest, Morris still lacks his first offer, but one school may be on the verge.
"I don't have any offers yet, but hopeflly I'll get some in the next couple of weeks. Kansas has mentioned offering. Their quarterback coach is coming down in a week, and said if they like me, they'd offer."
Morris is pretty clear in what he wants out of a school and what will decide where he ends up.
"A school that wants me as much as I want to go there."
Wanting to pick up more offers to give himself more options before making a decision, Morris is in the process of setting up his summer schedule that will include a few camps, but he wants to make sure that he's camping at schools that are showing the most interest.
"My parents and I talked about seeing what schools are the most interested and planning out my summer accordingly."
With Utah starting to show interest recently in the Lone Star State signal caller, Morris is showing interest right back.
"I really like Utah. They have a great program with Norm Chow coming in. When you think about offensive coaches, he's the guru of coordinators, and it would be great to be a part of what he is running. I like the program and am very interested in them."
Despite working mostly out of the shotgun spread in high school, Morris has been working on diversifying his game to broaden the number of schools that will recruit him, and making him more attractive to the Utes.
"We run a shotgun spread, but I've been working over the summer beind under center. I'm as comfortable under center as I am in the gun."
Despite not having an offer at the moment, the big signal caller would like to make his commitment sooner rather than later.
"Probably by the end of the summer I would like to commit somewhere, but I need an offer before I can commit somewhere."
Morris reports a 40 time of 4.8 seconds.
