Lewis Rethinking SMU Commitment?

South East (South Gate, CA) receiver Robert Lewis has seen his recruitment blow up recently despite being committed to a school, and talks to Inside The Utes about his options...

Robert Lewis is one of the quickest and most versatile players in the West for 2012 and has seen his recruitment blow up since committing to SMU back in March.

"It's really picking up. I'm hearing from UCLA, Mississppi, SDSU, Colorado, SMU, Oregon. Arizona State, Oregon State, Cal, and Utah."

Of those schools, SMU, Utah, Oregon, San Diego State, Colorado, and Mississippi have offered the all purpose player and he's starting to rethink his early commitment.

"With SMU, I liked the program a lot. At the time, that was the only school that was talking to me. Other schools were saying that my weight was a problem."

With Utah jumping into the mix, Lewis picks up his third Pac 12 offer, one that has piqued his interest.

"It's a good school and a big time program, especially with them going to the Pac 12. I always watched them growing up."

Despite the SMU verbal, Lewis is lining up summer visits and plans on making it out to Salt Lake City.

"I definitely want to take a visit. See how the campus is and how the weather is. It's something I want to do, but I'm not sure when I'l be visiting:"

As for SMU, they might be left at the alter when all is said and done as interest continues to build and Lewis continues to look around to see what his other options are.

"That's what I'm doing. I'm committed, but I still want to see my options. I'm committed, but I'm still looking around. I just want to go somewhere where I can fit in. The weather and the tradition are important. I want to play and get early playing time. I plan on taking all five visits."

With his multi-purpose abilities, most schools ar recruiting him to be a jack-of-all-trades.

"Most schools say they want to move me around as a running back, slot receiver, and stuff like that. That's what I want to do."
