Beaver Part Of A Package?

Utah offered six players from Dominguez (Compton, CA) last week and Brandon Beaver, who has ties to a former Ute, was one of them. Beaver and his teammates have talked about playing together, but there's one teammate he's most interested in playing with...

He's rated as the eleventh best cornerback in the country, so it's no surprise to see Brandon Beaver's recruitment as busy.

"My recruitment is going real good for me. I have a couple of offers and I'm really trying to see which schools are interested in me."

To this point, Beaver reports offers from UCLA, Utah, Tennessee, Washington, Washington State, Arizona, Cal, Boise State, New Mexico State, Fresno State, Arizona State, Colorado, San Diego State and Nebraska, with two other Pac 12 powers on the verge.

"Oregon and USC have been talking to me a lot and are close to offering."

Despite the hoard of offers, Beaver is still working through the schools and doesn't report a favorite at this time, while trying to find the best fit for himself.

"I'm looking for schools that I can see myself at as a student. A school that I can see myself playing at and has a good environment. A school with a good academic side to it and a good sociology program. A school that has a chance to be winning when I'm there, or is winning already."

Not wanting his recruitment to affect his senior year, the 6-1, 176 pound corner is hoping to commit over next couple of months, or will wait until late in the process.

"I'm either going to make my decision over the summer or wait until signing day."

With summer rapidly approaching, Beaver is setting up trips and planning out where he, and his teammates, will be visiting.

"I'm going to Arizona next month, and a few team camps over the summer."

With Utah jumping into the mix last week, Beaver was caught off guard by the offer, but it's added a new serious contender for hsi service.

"I was real surprised when they offered because I hadn't heard from them much. It's a school that I'm really considering. (Lamar) Chapman playing corner last year is from my city and that's really big with me. Utah is really one of the schools I can see myself going to. I should be taking an unofficial out there this summer."

Even with an SEC offer on the table, Brandon is pretty set on staying out west and the Utes move up in conference is only going to help their cause.

"It helps a lot. The Pac 12 is really where I want to stay. I'm going to look at all conferences, but I'm probably going to stay in the Pac 12. With them going to the Pac 12 really gives me a much better chance of going there."

One of six Dons from Compton Dominguez to pick up a Utah offer last week, Beaver and his teammates have spoken about playing together, but it's his cornerback counterpart that he's serious about playing with at the next level.

"We talk about it all the time, but the only people that take it seriously are me and Phonso (Alphonso Marsh). Certain times we laugh about it saying we should all go to one school, but Phonso and me are going to try to go to the same school."
