Desert Vista (Phoenix, AZ) lineman J.J. Dielman's recruitment was going along slowly until he got some shocking news, not that he picked up his first offer, but that it came from one of the top programs in the country and was humbled by the offer.
"Well I know Utah is a great program. It's nice to know that a team like that wants me on there team. It's kind of shocking. It took awhile to set in. Then the Northern Arizona offer came right after."
With Utah's search for more offensive lineman, Dielman was offered as a guard, but could end up on the other side of the ball as he plays both defensive end and defensive tackle for his high school team.
As for the Utes, he has a lot of interest and may be visiting over the summer to see what the new Pac 12 school has to offer.
"I've never been there before, but I'm told it's really pretty there and the weather is great. I probably will come ove the summer to check it all out, but part of it depends on what the Utah coaches say. With their move to the Pac 12, that's a more competitive conference for them to be in now, but they'e played a lot of those same teams before."
With the Utes getting on board first, more are sure to follow as the two-way lineman has been receiving interest from Arizona State, North Dakota, San Jose State, Washington State, Air Force, Navy, Idaho, and an Ivy League school in Columbia.
"I'm really hoping for offers from the in-state schools as well as San Jose State and Columbia."
With his first two offers on board in Utah and Northern Arizona recently, Dielman plans on taking his time to make a decision and wants to let the process run it's course.
"I probably will wait closer to signing day to keep my options open as long as I can, but Utah is a great offer to start with and a great offer to have in generally so I'll definitely be considering them."
