Saddelback Junior College wide receiver Rodney Woodland is one of the fastest JC players in California, and has seen his recruitment pickup recently, which included a visit from Utah.

"My recruitment is actually is going pretty good. I've been talking to a lot of schools so far. Trying to get things started before football season starts. I'm going to visit Cal on June 18th and hope to see a few others over the summer."

The list of schools that Woodland is hearing from stretches from the west coast down to the south.

"I'm hearing from Kansas State, Middle Tennessee, Utah, Iowa State, Arizona State, and Nevada."

While Woodland does most of his damage on offense, he's fairly versatile as a special teams player as well.

"All of the schools are recruiting me as a slot receiver, but I return punts and kickoffs as well."

A reason for Woodland choosing Saddleback as his junior college will be one of the biggest things he looks for when choosing his next destination.

"I just want a school that is very family oriented. They need to care about the players."

As for Utah, a recent visit from Aaron Roderick to check on one of the premier JC football programs in the country has sparked Woodland's interest.

"The wide receiver coach came down to visit recently. I don't know too much about Utah right now, but they are pretty high on my list and I want to know more about them. They're not a bad school at all."

With Norm Chow now on board as the Utah offensive coordinator, Woodland is high on the possibility of playing for one of the greatest offensive coordinators.

"Playing under a guy like Chow would be great. Definitely."

Are the Utes close to offering the speedster?

"Utah said they'd watch me this season before offering. I'm really hoping that they do offer."
