Cooper Bateman (Cottonwood HS) is arguably the top quarterback in the state of Utah for 2013 and has seen his recruitment increase significantly.

"I've been talking to a lot of coaches lately. It's been kind of crazy, but It's been kind of fun and it's been a good experience."

Bateman has two offers in his back pocket from local schools and could be adding more shortly.

"I hold offers from Utah and Utah State. BYU is pretty serious right now. I'm going down to meet with the coaches next week. I've also been talking with Maryland, and I was on the phone with the quarterback coach from Ole Miss the other day. We had a nice conversation."

The Utah coaches are showing Bateman a lot of love and their move to the Pac 12 has had a big impact on his view of the school.

"They are a Pac 12 school now and that's big time. I've been up there a lot and met with the coaches. The quarterback coach Brian Johnson and Jay Hill, I love them. I think all the coaches are awesome. They're going to be a strong team and it's Pac 12 football. I have no doubt that they have great coaches up there with Brian Johnson being the quarterback coach. No doubt that he's a great coach."

Despite the in-state interest, there is one school that Bateman is holding in higher regard than the rest.

"Stanford. That's my dream school. It's my dream to go there. It's still kind of early to say right now, but more likely than not, if they did offer, I would commit."

Should Stanford not offer, Bateman is putting comfortability and coaching high on his list of needs when choosing a school.

"I need to have a great feel of the campus. Coaching and winning tradition are important too. Those are a few factors that I'm looking at."

The 6-3 195 pound signal caller thinks he can bring a lot of versatility to a program, but feels his arm is his best asset.

"I'm a pocket passer and feel like I have a strong arm, but I can run the ball too. I'm a pretty mobile quarterback."

Having already kicked off his summer with a visit down south, Bateman has plenty ahead of him in the coming months.

"I just went to the BYU Junior Day. I'll be at the Utah Elite Camp. Three weeks from now I'll be heading down to Stanford and in July I'm heading down to Ole Miss."
