Delshawn McClellon is a Ute as the speedy wide receiver out of Southern California gave Utah a verbal commitment Saturday.
"I committed to Utah today."
McClellon was offered by the Utes a few weeks ago and built a great relationship with the coaches while a family connection helped seal the deal.
"It's not too far from California and I hear the education is great there. I'm familiar with Salt Lake City. My grandpa lives out there."
Combine that with the opportunity to play under Norm Chow and the speedster couldn't pass up the opportunity to head to Salt Lake City.
"On top of all of that Norm Chow is the offensive coordinator and I feel I will be successful under his guidance."
Now that he's given his verbal, McClellon feels as if he's made the right choice and will be visiting over the summer.
"I'm shutting it down for now. I'm still going to look into other schools, but Utah is where it is at right now. I'll be visiting sometime in July hopefully."
With McClellon now on board, the Utes could be picking up his wide receiver teammate Dwayne Washington, who McClellon is close with and has talked about playing with at the next level.
"I'm going to try and recruit him to see what he wants to do. He said he will be committing something this week."
*Editor's Note- Initial publication quoted McCellon as shutting down his recruitment. Edited version has McClellon continuing to look at other schools as clarified by McClellan.
