Patterson (CA) High's Pio Vatuvei has turned into one of the most offered defensive linemen in California building his offer list weekly.
"My recruitment is going well. I have eleven offers right now."
Most of those offers are coming from Pac 12 schools, and Vatuvie is determined to play his ball in the now 12 member conference.
"Utah, Cal, Washington State, Washington, Boise State, Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Utah State, and Fresno State are the schools that have offered me. I have a top five which is Arizona, Cal, Utah, Washington, and then maybe Colorado or Washington State."
With the Pac 12 being arguably the top academic FBS conference in the country, whichever school Vatuvei picks, will fill his most pressing need.
"The most important thing is mainly academics. That's number one. Number two is the environment and how I feel out there. Also, how I feel about the coaches and the relationship I have with them."
With one visit in the books, the big lineman will attempt to take a few more visits before making his decision.
"I visited Cal already and I'm trying to get up to Utah and Arizona next month."
As for the Utes, their recent success on the biggest stage is a huge draw to Vatuvei, who wants to play for a winning program.
"It's a great program. They've been to two BCS games, and won both of them. They're in the Pac 12, so that's a big plus. Also the coaching staff is very good. I really like Coach Whittingham, Coach Sitake, and Coach Davis, who is my primary recruiter. They like me at the three technique."
With the eleven offers in the books, Vatuvei is ready to end the process and make his decision shortly.
"I'm going to decide on my birthday on July 12th. I'm going to talk it over with my family and then call the coaches and tell them where I'm going to play my college football. I don't plan on making a big announcement or anything."
