Darius Powe out of Lakewood (CA) has turned into one of the top receiver prospects on the west coast and has received interest from all over the country.
"My recruitment is going good. I'm just taking it step by step. I've got like 15 offers right now."
Powe has started narrowing down his list and has a top five with four Pac 12 schools and one Big 12 institution.
"The schools that are standing out are Oregon State, Michigan, UCLA, Cal and Utah."
While those are his five favorites at the moment, Powe is still hearing from others and is looking to pick up more offers.
"I've been talking to Miami a lot. I might go visit them and if I do I think they will offer."
Narrowing down his list hasn't been easy with his 15 offers in hand, but Powe is putting atmosphere and player diversity high on his list of needs.
"I'm looking for a school with a great atmosphere, diversity in the players, and strong academics. Also, if they pass they ball a lot. I want to go to a passing team and a team that puts a lot of receives in the NFL."
With Utah jumping into the mix for his services, Powe has developed an interest in coming out to visit Salt Lake City.
"I like Utah. I like that they have Norm Chow and the offense he runs. I need to get out and see that place. They're in my top 5."
With Chow on board at Utah, and him being Powe's primary recruiter, the 6-3, 202 pound receiver likes what the Ute offensive coordinator is telling him.
"He's been telling me that I'd be a playmaker at Utah they'd use me at outside receiver."
While Powe plans on waiting until after his senior year to make a decision, he does know of three schools that he wants to visit officially in the fall, and Utah should be one of those schools.
"I'm going to visit Utah, Michigan, and Oregon State. Probably Miami too. Then I'll make my decision after that."
