Dielman Has A Favorite

Phoenix (AZ) Desert Vista offensive lineman J.J. Dielman picked up his first offer from Utah back in the spring, and has now seen his offer list grow to five with more schools showing interest daily. That first offer did stand out though, and he rewarded the Utes with a visit to Salt Lake City to check out the campus in mid-June.

"I loved it there. It was awesome. I got to meet all of the coaches and go on the field at the stadium. It was really something."

Dielman is putting a lot of emphasis on his relationship with the coaches and academics, something the coaching staff prioritized during his trip.

"When I met Coach (Tim) Davis, I wasn't sure what to expect, but he was a great guy. It would be really cool to play for him. Coach Hill showed me around the campus and the engineering department. It's a really nice place. I would say that they are my favorite."

While in the Salt Lake area, Dielman also made a stop at BYU, and has visited San Diego State unofficially, while schools from the Mountain West, Pac 12, and Big 10 are keeping in touch.

"I've been talking to Fresno State and Washington State. I've received tons of mail from Penn State."

With his senior year getting ready to kick off soon, Dielman will be taking official visits, but knows of only one school that he'll definitely be visiting.

"I know I'm going to take an official visit to Utah. Not really sure on any others."

Now that Dielman has named Utah as his favorite, does that mean a commitment could be on the horizon shortly?

"I'm still going to take to pretty slow. Just want to keep my options open for as long as I can. I kind of want to do it before the end of the season. That's when our playoffs start and I don't want it to get in the way of that."
