Dickman On The Verge

Offensive lineman Alex Dickman feels as if his first offer is right around the corner...

Offensive lineman Alex Dickman comes from one of the most high profile high school football programs in the west in Chaparral (AZ). The Firebirds opened their season against national power Bishop Gorman (NV) on national TV, giving the country a glimpse each school. Despite taking Chaparral taking the loss, Dickman is hopeful that the added exposure will help him pick up his first offer.

"My recruitment is going good. It's really exciting for me right now. I've been talking to coach Sitake and Coach Scalley at Utah and I really like their program a lot. They said if I keep it up I'll get an offer. I've started talking to Coach Davis and really like him the more I get to know him and the program at Utah. I've also been talking to Oregon, Arizona State, Alabama and Arkansas."

Dickman was busy over the summer attending camps and visiting schools and hopes his perseverance pays off soon with a scholarship offer.

"Right now I have no official offers and I want to wait to set up official visits. I already took unofficials to Alabama, LSU, USC, Oregon, and Oregon State. I would like to visit Utah soon if possible though. I feel im really close to getting offers from either ASU, Utah, or Oregon."

Even without an offer, the 6-5, 302 pound lineman didn't hesitate to name three schools that are standing out right now.

"I'd say my favorite schools right now are Alabama, Utah, and USC. Utah is by far on top. The only reason why it's not my number one is because I haven't visited Salt Lake, which I plan on doing sometime soon. "

Knowing what he wants to study in college is helping Dickman narrow things down for when the time comes to make his choice.

"I'm looking for a school with a solid business program and somewhere southern like Utah, Alabama, or ASU."

With his relationship with the coaches growing and the Utes meeting his criteria, an offer could end up turning into a quick commitment out of Dickman.

"I could see myself playing at Utah and am very interested. I'd consider commiting right away if either Utah or Alabama offered."
