La Marque (TX) CB/WR Bryan Allen is finally starting to shrink his list of schools after having coaches in his home and by his high school non-stop for the last couple of days.
"A guy from Nevada is here right now at my school so we're about to sit down and talk about the visit information. Stephen F. Austin was here, and UTEP came by yesterday and came to my house."
One Pac 12 school that came by is currently standing out and has setup a visit for January.
"I talked to Utah last night in an email and he (Morgan Scalley) said he was on a flight coming back out this way. They're my top frontrunner right now. They sent me my ticket in the e-mail and want me to come out on the 13th of January."
The relationship Allen has developed with the coaches has been key in his recruitment, and Utah's academic prowess is a big reason for their lead for his services.
"I just like the coaches. They are very friendly. I want to major in electrical engineering, and they have a good engineering school. I'm just looking heavily at the academics."
Allen has the kind of versatility that seems to fit well in a Utah system that gets the best players on the field at a position they can be successful.
"When he came to my house, he said that the first position I'd play is receiver, but he also said that I have the body to play anything. It just depends on how my body fills out."
Allen only has one visit setup at the moment, a possible telling sign of where he'll end up, and plans on making a decision very soon.
"I just have a visit to Utah setup right now. I'll probably make a decision by the end of next week. It's going to be either Utah, UTEP, or Wyoming."
