Leota On the Verge Of Committing?

JC defensive lineman Koliniasi Leota has a visit setup to Utah and names the Utes as his leader

Koliniasi Leota is one of the most heavily recruited JC defensive line prospects in the country for 2012, but could be ready to make a decision as soon as next week as his recruitment finishes up.

"My recruitment is going good. Just got to finish up our championship game and then head over to Utah. That might be my last trip. If they mark me as a mid year, then Utah will be the last trip. I'm going to Utah next week on the 15th."

Leota is still working on a few classes and doesn't know if he'll be able to graduate in time to enroll in January, so he's keeping his options open until hearing definitively.

"I'll actually know by next week if I'm a mid year. All the classes I need to graduate are the ones I'm taking now. I have a math class that I'm taking online and that won't be done until January. I'll find out for sure when I can enroll next week. If they don't mark me as a mid year, then they'll give me two more trips and I'll either go to Kansas State and Miami, or Miami and USC. USC just offered."

If he does qualify as a mid year enrollee, Leota has two schools in mind that are leading for his services.

"The schools I'm leaning towards right now are Utah and Hawaii, but my defensive line coach really wants me to go check out USC. I'm loving what I'm hearing from Utah. I'm just excited to go on this trip. I love the coaches up there. Coach Kyle Whittingham and Coach Chow are real honest and good coaches. I look for a coach that I have a good relationship with."

The Ute coaches have put in their time with Leota and it's working. as he finally opened up and definitely declared that Utah is the one school that sits above the rest.

"They came out and visited, Coach Chad and Coach Kalani. Those are coaches I really want to play for. I'm not gonna lie; Utah right now is actually my number one. Coach Chad just came from my house and visited my father, and my wife and kids."

With his visit lined up to Utah, Leota can't wait to get on campus and see what the school has to offer.

"I'm just excited to go check out the school and see how they work things out over there. Utah is pretty much a school that has everything for my wife and kids too so I'm excited."

Leota's good friend and current teammates, Junior Salt, who also has an offer from the Utes, will likely be coming out for his official visit next week as well.

"Junior is coming with me. He's been talking to some other schools, but he said he's coming out with me. We're excited to see Utah."
