Allen Makes His Decision

Texas athlete Greg Allen has made his decision, with Utah coming out as the winner. Allen visited Utah over the weekend, and followed that up with an in home visit with the Utah coaches that concluded with him giving Utah a verbal commitment.

"I committed just a few minutes ago. Coach Whittingham and Coach Scalley were here and they just left. We're very excited."

The in home visit sealed the deal after a successful weekend visit as the coaches laid out exactly what Utah football can do for a student-athlete.

"The coaches talked to me about what Utah had on the table, how you can be a better person there, and how they will prepare you for life."

The coaches also won over Allen's mother, who could be heard rejoicing in the background throughout Allen's interview.

"For me and my mom, they showed us all the stats and explained to me what life is like there. They've been checking up on me since 10th grade and will do the same in college. They have a perfect academic system that keeps me on track."

Allen picked the Utes over Kansas, who he had planned on visiting this weekend, but that visit has been cancelled.

"I already cancelled the visit to Kansas."

With just over two weeks until signing day, Allen now turns his focus to help Utah land more players in the 2012 class.

"I'm just going to help try to get a few more guys to jump on board at Utah, stay on top of my grades and get ready to come to Utah in June."
