Jackson Excited for Signing Day

Jake Jackson, a linebacker from Encinitas, California, discusses his official visit to the University of Utah.

The Utah football program hosted a large group of recruits this past weekend. One of the visitors was Jake Jackson, a 6'3, 205 lb linebacker from Encinitas, California.

Jackson committed to the Utes back in September.

During his visit to Utah, Jackson was hosted by freshman linebacker Jason Whittingham.

"It was pretty fun. We hung out, went tubing on Saturday, took a tour of the facilities and stuff. We saw the virtual tour of the new facilities, which was killer!"

"I had never seen the academic center for the athletes. That was killer, I had never seen that before. The locker room was pretty sweet. The one big draw I really liked was that all the players, no matter what position they are, everybody gets along. Everyone is super cool, and really nice, and it's like one big family. Then all the coaches were really cool, and it was just good. I liked everything about it."

Jackson has already started to form a good relationship with some of the other recruits, spending much of the weekend hanging out with Austin Lee, Chase Hansen, Hunter Dimick, Moane Ofahengaue, and Zach Lindsay.

Jackson will sign on signing day, but due to a rule change, he won't be able to work out with the team during the summer. Jackson plans to serve an LDS mission before joining the team for a full season.

"This is my first and last visit," Jackson proclaimed. "I'm totally ready for the 1st. I'm ready and excited."
