With just days remaining until February 1st, coaches everywhere are working hard to lock up those elusive uncommitted players remaining on their recruiting boards.
In-home visits and daily phone calls are the name of the game in this final week leading up to signing day, all in the hope of signing those final high-profile players.
One target the Utah coaches are still working hard on is local OLB/DE hybrid Moana Ofahengaue.
Coach Whittingham spent his Wednesday afternoon in the Ofahengaue home talking with Moana and his family once again about the benefits of attending the University of Utah.
Was his evening a success?
"They're definitely my leader right now" Moana said about Utah shortly after Whittingham left his home.
"Coach Whitt just talked more about the school and what Utah can offer. We talked a lot about education and some other things Utah has going for it. It was a really good talk, really good."
Wednesday's meeting came on the heels of an official visit taken by Ofahengaue this past weekend, a visit that also left a good impression on the player.
"The visit (to Utah) was good, I liked it. I had a lot of fun. What stood out to me were the coaches. They were just really nice. I spent a lot of time with the other recruits too. We went swimming at the hotel together and had a lot of fun."
Ofahengaue recently narrowed his choices to Utah and Arizona, and with signing day just six days away now it's time for Moana to figure things out.
"I'm planning on announcing on signing day. I'm playing in the (International Bowl) in Texas on Wednesday and I'll announce during the game."
Arizona coaches Robert Anae and Rich Rodriguez have scheduled an in-home visit with Moana today hoping to give the Westlake (UT) senior one final pitch about what Arizona has to offer.
After Thursday's visit Moana plans to spend the final few days talking things over with his family before making his announcement on the 1st.
