Palepoi Getting Closer

JC DL Tenny Palepoi visited Utah over the weekend and talks about his signing day decision...

On the final visit weekend of the season, Utah hosted defensive lineman Tenny Palepoi, attempting to boost their chances in landing the local JC player with three days until signing day.

"It was great. They took us snowmobiling and showed us around the campus. I got to hang out with a bunch of the players and spend time with the coaches. It was really nice."

Palepoi visited along with prospect Pasoni Tasini and the two had a good time together.

"I spent time with Pasoni from Hawaii. He was a good guy and we spent a lot of time together. We were the only two guys that visited this weekend."

The defensive lineman, who says the Utes are recruiting him to play defensive end, grew up a Utah fan and spoke glowingly of having a chance to play for the team he's rooted for his whole life.

"That would be great. I've always loved Utah and being able to play there is something I'd really like. The coaches told me I'd have a chance to come in and compete for a starting spot. They always have one of the best defensive lines and it would be great to be a part of that."

Palepoi is deciding between the three FBS schools in the state in Utah, BYU, and Utah State, and maintains that there is little separation between them at this time.

"All three schools are good schools and there are things about each one that I like. I just have to talk it over with my family and make the decision that fits me best."

With signing day drawing close, Palepoi won't have much time to make his decision, but is confident that he'll find the right place.

"I'm going to make my decision on Tuesday night and tell the coaches. Then I'm going to announce it on Wednesday."
