Mack To Follow In Blechen's Footsteps?

Tony Mack hails from the same school as Brian Blechen and wouldn't mind following him to Utah

There may not be a tougher high school football league in the country than Southern California's Marmonte League, and Moorpark High's Tony Mack loves the competition, which has helped make him a better player and prep him for a future college career.

"My recruitment is kind of slow but I'm starting to get some attention from some big schools, so I guess it's picking up a little."

SDSU, Colorado State, Utah, and Fresno State are some of the bigger schools he's heard from, but there are two that are standing out right now.

"My dream schools are probably San Diego State and Utah. I think I fit in well at SDSU and I really like Utah's program."

His draw with the Utes has to do with a familiar face already in the program.

"I didn't know much about them until a few year ago when Brian Blechen went there. I've started looking into them more and they're a pretty good school and program. Coach Johnson came by my school last week to talk to me and I gave him my film, so we'll see what happens."

Being able to follow in the footsteps of a player he knows and went to the same high school as would be helpful in Mack's mind when making the transition to college.

"That would help a lot. If I went there, he could show me the ropes and I'd be more comfortable with everything."

With summer right around the corner, Mack plans on hitting the road and visiting as many schools as he can.

"I plan to visit Arizona, Fresno State, Cal-Poly, and I definitely want to get to Utah."

After those visits, if the right offers come in, Mack could be quick to make a decision.

"Ideally I'd like to decide whenever the right school offers, so I can't really put a timeframe on it."
