Junior college players often wait longer than high school players to pick up commitable offers, but that's not the case with Arizona Western JC LB/DE Randy Gregory, who has multiple offers under his belt.
"My recruitment is going pretty well. Slowed down a bit recently, but schools are still calling me a bit."
Gregory was a class of 2011 commit to Purdue, but didn't qualify and went the JC route, which took him from the Midwest to Arizona, but it hasn't kept schools from offering.
"I've talked to Purdue Indiana, Utah, Kansas, Iowa, and Illinois recently."
Those conversations have led to offers from Illinois, Purdue, Iowa State, and a few others, but he's yet to name a leader.
"I'm considering all schools. I've always been a big Michigan State fan as well as Purdue, who I signed with out of high school. My dad played at Northwestern so I know a lot about the Big 10 schools."
The versatile defender stands at 6-6, 230 and is being recruited to play one of two spots.
"Outside linebacker in 3-4 schemes is where most schools want me, but some schools want me as a defensive end."
With Utah showing interest, Gregory is learning more about the school and the area and made a trip out to the state in 2011 with his Arizona Western team.
"At first I didn't know much about Utah, but I've talked to some of the coaches and they've been sending me a lot in the mail. I'm learning more about them and I like what I've seen so far. I've talked to the defensive coordinator and Coach Finn recently. He came out to one of our spring practices to watch me a few weeks ago. We went up and played Snow College last year and it was nice. It was snowing a lot and there were a lot of mountains, but I'm used to playing in the snow."
Gregory has three years to play two and hopes to finish up his JC requirements in December so he can enroll early.
"I'll be playing this fall and then graduating in December before moving on."
