Hatch To Camp At Utah

Local TE/LB Dallin Hatch will be looking for a Ute offer next week

Pleasant Grove (UT) High School sent a high profile player to a Pac 12 school in 2012 when Brandon Fanaika signed with Stanford. They hope to do it again in 2013 with tight end/linebacker Dallin Hatch. "My recruitment has been going pretty well and has been an exciting process. I don't have any official offers on paper, but Southern Utah has talked about a verbal offer."

Hatch has also been in talks with BYU, Weber State, Snow JC, Utah, and Utah State, but is yet to name a leader.

"Everyone is pretty even at this point, but I've always been a big fan of Utah."

Growing up as a Ute fan, Hatch has enjoyed getting to know the coaches, some of whom watched him last weekend.

"Coach Hill has been my main recruiter. I went to the Ute Shoot last weekend and Coach Hill and Coach Sitake both watched me." The 6-3, 215 pounder is looking for a great education at the next level, but also needs to find a school that is ok with him taking an LDS mission after his freshman year.

"My first focus is education. I need a place that is going to set me up for life because there is life after football. Also the coaching staff, the environment, and the relationships I have with the coaches are very important to me. I will be taking a mission. I'm leaving in the spring of 2014 so I'll be at school for a year before going."

Hatch is a fairly versatile athlete and could end up at one of many spots in college.

"Some schools are looking at me as a slot wide receiver, while Utah sees me as an outside linebacker/tight end type."

Hatch has plans of attending two Utah camps over the next week, but may only participate in one due to a recent injury.

"I sprained my ankle and it's been getting better, but Coach Hill want me to be 100% for the 18th so I might not participate on the 11th."

With Utah being his favorite school growing up, and the possibility of picking up an offer at a camp coming up, Hatch isn't sure if he'll jump at a Ute offer immediately.

"I don't know if I'd commit right away. I'd want to jump at it, but I also want to weigh all of my options and go through the process."

"I would kike to make my decision before my season so I can get it out of the way, but if I don't have the offers I'm looking for, then I might wait until closer to signing day."
