There aren't many players in the west that are faster than Redlands (CA) athlete Walter Jones. Jones and his team are off to a fast start this season, and it's helped Jones increase his profile amongst pac 12 schools. He made his first official visit of the year to Utah over the weekend and came away very impressed.
"It went great. I really enjoyed it. The game was great, and I loved the atmostphere. All of the fans were going crazy and they really love their football. I'd give the visit a 10 out of 10. They showed me everything that I'd ever want out of a school."
Utah defensive back Lewis Walker hosted Jones on the visit.
"He told me all about how much he loves the program. I spent a lot of time with Coach Shah and I really like him. They showed us the construction site for the new facilities and I got to watch a video of what it will look like. I really liked it."
The relationship that the speedster has developed with the Utah coaches has been instrumental in his fascination with the program.
"I love the coaches. They care about things other than football and really want me to get an education."
Despite all of that, Jones isn't naming a leader and has multiple new schools jump in the mix for his services.
"No leader right now and I don't have any other visits scheduled, but Utah is near the top. I've been hearing more from a few other schools like Washington, UCLA, and Boise State. If they offer, I'll probably visit them. If not, I'll be visiting Oregon State, Washington State, and Nevada."
Despite the Utes coming in so high on his list, Jones won't make a decision until after taking those visits and could wait until after his season.
"I plan on making a decision once my recruitment slows down and new schools stop showing interest. Then I can decide where I want to go. I don't want to wait until signing day."
