Scout Recruiting Team Out West

A look at the games that the Scout Recruiting Team out West will be hitting this weekend...

West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade at Gardena (Calif.) Serra at 8 p.m.
The Western Division Final will be stocked with plenty of talent on Friday night. Chaminade is led by 2013 tailback Terrell Newby, who is having a terrific senior season that included an eight-touchdown performance against Harvard-Westlake. Newby is one of the top all-around running backs in Southern California and has serious interest in Cal, Nebraska, Oregon and UCLA. In the passing game, junior quarterback Brad Kayaa has emerged as one of the better junior quarterbacks in the region and has a real weapon in wide receiver Elijah Dunston, a Colorado commit. Two-way standout Donovan Lee has contributed mainly as a defensive back this season and should take over the starting tailback spot next season. Serra is always one of the most talented teams in Southern California, and this year is no different, with several big-time underclassmen. Junior cornerback Adoree Jackson is the top overall prospect on the roster. The elite athlete already has nine offers and has all the tools needed to be a true lockdown corner. Fellow junior Dwight Williams, one of the fastest linebacker we have seen this season, already holds five offers and will end up with several more in the coming months. Also keep an eye on senior linebacker/safety Ardis Perez. Quarterback Jalen Greene has made great strides in the passing game and will get attention from college coaches looking for a dual-threat quarterback. Greene has several solid wide receivers to throw to lead by Greg Webb and Jordan Lasley. On the ground, sophomore tailback Malik Roberson has rushed for over 1,000 yards this season.  (@KevinCarden)

Lynden (Wash.) vs. Tumwater (Wash.) at the Tacoma Dome at 1:00 p.m.
In a matchup of the past two 2A state champions, its also a mini-matchup of the Apple Cup.  Tumwater, led by legendary coach Sid Otton, won the state title for 2A in 2010.  His top prospect is defensive lineman/tight end Jaimie Bryant, a Washington commit.  Lynden, which won the 2A state title a year ago, is led by Washington State verbal Matt Meyer on the offensive line and defensive end Caleb Newman, who has an offer from the Cougars among others.  (@BrandonHuffman)

Long Beach (Calif.) Poly vs. Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei at Angel Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
Two of the traditional Southland powers meet in a CIF-SS Pac-5 championship matchup. Mater Dei is headed by four-star tight end Thomas Duarte, the #2-ranked tight end in the West, as well as 2014 cornerback Jonathan Lockett, a Scout 300 prospect for his class. Offensive lineman David Bright has a handful of Pac-12 offers, including a recent one from Stanford.  The Jackrabbits have several FBS prospects on both sides of the ball. Running back Gerard Wicks, a Washington State commit, is strong and fast and runs with power. The secondary will be the strength of the Poly defense led by safety David Price and sophomore corner Iman Marshall. Arizona, Colorado and SMU have offered Price, one of the biggest hitters in the state. Marshall has been labeled a 'phenom' since the 8th grade and has offers from UCLA and Washington State plus interest from programs all over the country.  Linebacker Jayon Brown is committed to UCLA and junior receiver John Smith has a couple of Mountain West offers. Sammamish (Wash.) Skyline vs. Tacoma (Wash.) Bellarmine Prep at the Tacoma Dome at 7:30 p.m.
The final game of Max Browne, the nation's top quarterback, will be in the Tacoma Dome, where Browne, a USC commit, will try to lead the Spartans to their second straight state title and their fifth in the last six years.  He'll be flanked by Nic Sblendorio, the heart and soul of the Spartans at receiver and safety, and Washington State verbal Peyton Pelluer anchors the Spartans linebacker corps.  On the other side will be Bellarmine Prep, the hometown favorite, making their first appearance in the 4A state championship game.  The Lions came close in 2010, losing in the semifinals to Spokane Ferris (who beat Skyline and Browne a week later in the finals).  Bellarmine is headed by quarterback Sefo Liufau, the #2-ranked quarterback in the state and a Colorado commit.  Liufau has played in Browne's shadow the past three years, but a win here would not only cement his legacy at Bellarmine, but also give him the statewide appreciation he deserves.  Calvin Chandler is the defensive leader for the Lions at linebacker.  (@BrandonHuffman)

Torrance (Calif.) West vs. Palos Verdes Estates (Calif.) Palos Verdes at Veterans Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
West Torrance tight end Mat Boesen, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound prospect, is the 10-3 Warriors' top prospect. Though he didn't get a lot of looks during his junior season, but after a strong performance at camps and in the 7-on-7 circuit, Boesen picked up offers from San Diego State and Boise State before committing to the Broncos in July. Though he'll still be at tight end for the last round of playoffs before the championship game, Boesen was recruited to play outside linebacker for the Broncos. The 10-3 Palos Verdes' offensive line features guard Andrew Bucklin, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound prospect who holds an offer from Colorado.  (@AnnabelStephan)
