Utah Goes Into Texas Again

The Utes continue their Texas haul with a commitment from cornerback Hipolito Corporan

Another week. Another Utah commit from Texas.

The Utes picked up a verbal from two star cornerback Hipolito Corporan on Sunday at the conclusion of his official visit.

"I did commit to Utah on my visit. The biggest thing for me is the opportunity to come in right away and play early. I also really like their business program."

Corporan had been committed to Virginia since the summer, but his visit to Utah was the tipping point that will see the 6-2, 190 pounder in Salt Lake City for the 2013 season.

"I opened things up with Virginia awhile back and Utah wanted to bring me in for a visit."

Corporan had never been to the Utah area, and even on a fridged weekend with temperatures hovering around zero, he enjoyed himself enough to make Utah his future home.

"It wasn't that bad as I thought it was going to be. Utah doesn't have the humidity that Houston does so it wasn't too bad. The coaches said it normally isn't this cold. We went snowmobiling and it was a great experience."

Spending time with current Utes Jacoby Hale and Eric Rowe as well as visitor Deon Hollins made the visit even more enjoyable as they had commonalities between them.

"They were great guys. Being from Texas, we had a lot in common. I was talking to Deon about coming to Utah and he said he's deciding between UCLA and the Utes."

Ultimately, the relationship with Utah coach Morgan Scalley paid huge dividends for the Utes with Corporan.

"Coach Scalley and I have always had a great relationship. He never pressured me. He said I'd be a great player wherever I go."

With his commitment to Utah, Corporan is finished taking visits and is shutting down his recruitment.

"I'm done with the recruiting process. I'm a Ute."
